Shorty the Flip House: Week 9

I hope you enjoy these weekly updates as I navigate through the business of flipping houses one house at a time!!  Come back every Friday to see how this house, aka Shorty, progresses from week to week.  To catch up on the progress on Shorty, check out his previous posts here.  If you’re new here, (Hello!!!) you can find more about my 5 previous flip houses here.  Thanks for coming along for the ride!!

While not in leaps and bounds, important progress happened this week.  If you follow me on social media, you already got a glimpse at my absolute favorite change this week:

Herringbone tile in the kitchen and powder room is going to be quite the feature!  I kept the tile neutral so I don't scare away buyers, but added interest with the pattern which seems fitting of an almost 100 year old house.  I have a habit of falling in love with floors and this one is no different.  It makes me swoon!  While the kitchen is nearly all tiled now, I didn't get to snap another picture before it got covered up for plastering.  So that's the other thing that happened this week- electrical got signed off on the permit so we can finally get all the walls closed up, repaired, and all the loose plaster patched (happy dance!).

The plasterer will hopefully be finishing up on Monday, the kitchen tile on Tuesday, and I'm really crossing my fingers that the kitchen can start going in next week too.  Either way, the long, arduous task of painting can finally begin!  I really wish we had left money in the budget to hire painters for the interior, but I'd rather put in a bit of sweat equity and put that money toward making the kitchen a WOW or installing AC.  Before you ask, yes, I do plan on doing quite a bit of painting, even in my 3rd trimester with Copper Dot Baby.  But I plan on being very safe and doing it all with a vapor respirator mask (not just your dinky little dust mask), and farming out the less desirable/comfortable tasks such as ceiling painting to Hubby.  I may need to enlist Handy Dad's help to assist me with backsplash tiling when the time comes, but I plan on doing whatever finishing tasks that I safely can.

Before I leave you for the weekend, I opened up one of the cabinet boxes just to tease myself with the gorgeous colored cabinets.  Green cabinets- that may look even greener in person- are certainly not the safe "flipper" decision here, but you gotta take some risks if you want to knock socks off with a kitchen.  Trust me, it will be gorgeous!!

Here's hoping next week's progress will all fall into line as I'm envisioning.  Even if the cabinets got pushed back another week, we're on the right track to have the house listed in less than 2 months!

Have a fantastic weekend!!

Shorty the Flip House: Week 8

I hope you enjoy these weekly updates as I navigate through the business of flipping houses one house at a time!!  Come back every Friday to see how this house, aka Shorty, progresses from week to week.  To catch up on the progress on Shorty, check out his previous posts here.  If you’re new here, (Hello!!!) you can find more about my 5 previous flip houses here.  Thanks for coming along for the ride!!

I'll start out today by saying that this week wasn't quite the progress leaps and bounds I was hoping for, but still some very important progress was made.  Most notable change?  Half of the house is all drywalled and patched!

In the areas that they haven't patched just yet, they did remove any of the loose/damaged plaster.

While this doesn't look like a huge step in the house, it totally is- drywalling means that painting is coming VERY soon!!  Once we can pull out the paint brushes, things are going to start to look pretty polished pretty quickly.

I was really hoping to see the kitchen tile go down this week, but due to scheduling conflicts (my contractor's tile guy was in the midst of tiling 2 bathrooms) I won't get to see tile on the floor until early next week.  BUT that doesn't mean that no kitchen progress happened!  If you caught my insta-story yesterday, you know cabinets got delivered!!!

Additionally, I ordered light fixtures for about 90% of the house.  They've already started delivering them and I'm excited to see them installed!!  After paint!

Slated for next week is kitchen floor tile, more plastering, and picking paint colors!!!

Have a fantastic weekend!!!

My Bold Hues

I'm so excited for this first ever round-up of my #MyBoldHues favorites!  Several weeks ago, I snuck the announcement into my weekly flip update about our new hashtag!  #MyBoldHues on instagram is a way to show off and celebrate your lives filled with color. For almost a month now, some amazing people have been tagging #MyBoldHues, whether it be spaces, projects or moments that are full of color!  As promised, the last Wednesday of each month (that's today!!!!), myself and the other co-hosts will be sharing our favorite instagrams on our blogs.  I'm overwhelmed by the stellar colorful things you guys have posted on instagram!!

It was so tough to pick my favorites to feature!

****As per usual, please practice responsible pinning.  The below images are NOT my own and shouldn't be pinned from my page.  Please click through to the original source to pin inspiration****

@coppercorners had several swoonworthy #myboldhues posts!  As a painter, I imagine she's always surrounded by color.  This image in particular I absolutely loved the bold mix of floral patterns and textures.  (designers note: the multiple florals work because the scales are so varied!)

Sometimes it's not about having an explosion of color, but just very well placed touches, just ask @laurenjohnsondesign.  The way the painting and the chairs play so well together is so close to perfection!

One of #myBoldHues cohosts, @cate_stylemutthome had me swooning over this little vignette.  Aside from that credenza giving me all the heart eyes, I love how the hanging kilim pieces and plant pot bring in even more fun without going over the top.

I've accepted that Hubby will never come around to my side on this one, but give me an amazing floral and I'm a happy gal.  @house_of_unicorns used this floral wallpaper so perfectly.  While there are other feminine touches in the space, the classic lines of the mid-century inspired sofa and coffee table give the room an amazing balance.

And because for some strange reason, I have nursery's on the brain...

Even in an overall white space, @themakerista added a swoonworthy stripe treatment behind a beautiful but understated crib.  I don't know about you, but I'm very rarely a fan of "cutesy" spaces for babies, so an amazingly stylish space that just happens to be for a baby makes me want to do a happy dance.

Continuing with my urge to dance, @ariellesgoldman is working on her own nursery and just finished painting this feature for behind the crib.  I can't WAIT to see the rest of the room come together!!  These last 2 images are really getting me revved up to clear my office and start pulling together my little guy's space!

What were your favorite #myboldhues posts this month?  There were so many awesome spaces shared this month I had to follow trend, but I'm hoping in future months we can see more variety too!  Don't forget to tag your items, vignettes, DIYs, and general life moments in addition to your amazing spaces!

Now head over to my awesome #myboldhues cohosts and see what made them weak in the knees:
